The Agency for the Promotion of Investments and Exports (APIEX) was created on 1 November 2016 by the Government of Mozambique as a public institution. It results from the merger of the Investment Promotion Centre (CPI), the Office for Special Economic Zones of Accelerated Development (GAZETA) and the Institute for the Promotion of Exports (IPEX), and is supervised by the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

APIEX
With the merger, the Government intends to ensure closer alignment with its objectives and targets for the development and promotion of investment and exports, bringing together in a single entity, in an integrated way, the promotion of private and public investment and of exports.
The aim is to create synergies between the bodies directly involved in, and responsible for, positioning the country’s investment and business environment, to strengthen relations with investors and foreign trade operators, and to create a single focal voice for communication.
What APIEX does
The agency develops and implements actions in four areas.
