The Consular Service of the Embassy of Mozambique in Stockholm serves citizens resident in the Nordic countries (Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway and Iceland), facilitating tourism and promoting business and investment opportunities. Follow the four steps below to find out whether you need a visa and how to apply.

Do I need a visa?
It depends on your passport, the purpose and the length of your trip.
Since 1 May 2023, citizens of the Nordic countries and of 25 other nationalities are exempt from a visa for tourism or business trips of up to 30 days.

Apply before you travel
If your passport is not on the exemption list, you must apply for a tourist visa or business visa through the official portal of the Government of Mozambique.
How to submit an application
Everything by email, as PDF. Only post your passport when the Embassy asks for it.
- Digital format: all applications and documents must be scanned as PDF and emailed to info@embassymozambique.se.
- Passport: do not send your physical passport in advance. Post it only when requested.
- Contact details: include an up-to-date email address and telephone number on the form.
Checklist
- Visa application form, completed and signed
- Purpose of the trip: a detailed explanation of the reason for the visit
- Means of subsistence: a written guarantee or bank statement showing funds for the stay
- Non-Nordic residents: a copy of a valid residence permit or card for the Nordic countries
- Travel insurance or other supporting documents, only if requested by the Embassy
Which visa category
The line between short and long stay is 90 days.
Short stay
Tourist, business, visitor / family and official visas.
- Single entry: valid for 60 days, maximum stay of 30 days from entry
- Multiple entry: valid for 90 days, maximum of 30 consecutive days per entry
- Does not permit any form of paid work in Mozambique
Long stay
For stays longer than 90 days, apply for a specific category:
- Work visa: prior approval from SENAMI and documentation from the company in Mozambique
- Student visa: letter of acceptance from a recognised educational institution
- Residence visa: to take up residence in Mozambique
- Diplomatic / official visa: holders of diplomatic or service passports
Fees and payment
Pay only when the Embassy notifies you, in Swedish kronor.
- Currencyconsular fees are charged exclusively in Swedish kronor (SEK)
- When to payonly after explicit notification from the Embassy
- What it coversprocessing of the application; it does not guarantee approval
- Refundsfees are not refundable if the application is refused
⚠️ Express applications: the urgency fee does not guarantee immediate issue of the visa. Applications that require prior consultation with the National Migration Service (SENAMI) headquarters in Maputo may take longer.
